Girl On The Hill
An illustration spawned from the idea for a moody short film about a little girl who gets her kite stuck in a tree. Quite an independent, brave and open minded character, she hopes that the odd looking stranger that appears will help her retrieve her kite.
The image below shows an earllier version, which aimed to present a slightly darker edge to the story, presenting the stranger as much more mysterious, potentially threatening, but is simply misunderstood where he actually has good intentions, similar to that of "No Face" which is so well presented in the fantastic film "Spirtied Away" by Studio Ghibli. It was questionable whether I had succeeded or not, which is why the design and personality of the character underwent an alteration.
